Bobby's Birthday - Giraffe CASE

Today's post is a special card I had to make for my brother's birthday. I was at a total loss of what to make with totally NO MO JO going on. I was soooooooo excited to see a card this week that would be perfect!... except I didn't have that stamp set. So I have to admit, the materials used are not all SU, but I that's going to have to be ok, OK?

I was inspired by one of my favorite designers Ann Schach, and my inspiration is from a card she did the other day here. Well it was more than inspiration it was pretty much a CASE!  I was soooooooo excited by the techniques she used, I couldn't wait until I got out of work to run home and try them out! How about that BG pattern? So cute!
Ann made her BG pattern with rubber from the new clear mounts, but I wanted something permanent so I didn't have to fuss with it each time I wanted to use it. So here is my version.  I LOVE it!
First I had to dig out some rubber scraps that is left from the stamps sets. I cut up pieces and stuck them to a wood block to make a giraffe skin pattern. I previously purchased a whole box of wood blocks from another demo that wanted to get rid of them last year so I used the rubber from wood mounted stamps and used a large BG size block, so now I have a new BG stamp to keep and use forever!!! Yippee! and... here's my card.
I stamped the BG giraffe pattern with early espresso ink on more mustard cs and mounted the piece to a black card base. Then I ran my card base through the BS with an embossing folder that reminded me of the giraffe pattern. If you look close you can see it.
I used cream color emboss powder on very vanilla to emboss my (cutie) giraffe, then distress with crumb cake ink and the spritzer/marker. I matted it on a piece of early espresso and glued to the card front. I did the same with the sentiment oval.
Next I stamped some jungle leaves with lucky limeade ink on pear pizzazz cs; fussy cut and distressed it with (are you ready?).. turquoise ink! Another tip from Ann.
I mounted them to a small black cs circle and folded a scrap of twill tape then attached the antique brad. I mounted to the card front with a dimensional.
Here's a peek at the inside with touches from the front! I think it turned out so cute..... that I made TWO! One to send and one for a spare!
Notice I use two different brads too... Which one do you like?
THANKS Ann for the inspiration and tips!

Please leave a comment with your thoughts; I hope you will stop by again!"
