Pretty Pretty PANSIES

I just couldn't wait to try making these adorable pansies. I have seen them on many blogs, and decided that I would use them on several of the MAY birthday cards I had to get in the mail. So if you are on the recieving end, I sure hope your card has arrived by now. Anyway..... on with the show.

This is also one of the cards the girls made at the last card class I held. They fell in love with these pansies and I wish you could have seen all the beautiful color combos there were.
This card appears a little 'dull' in the photo, but I assure you it is not.
For the card I used pumpkin pie CS for the base. On the front and  inside pieces I tore the edge of the Whisper White and inked with bashful blue to help define the torn effect. I also tore and embossed the Bashful Blue piece, then layered to the W.W.  I used a piece of Sweatpea DSP with the scalloped edge punch to go around the large W.W. oval. Stamped a sentiment on the oval center right. A few leaves from one of the small dies helps to anchor the pansies. The pansies are each made from two butterfly punches spritzed heavily with water and touches of  reinkers to color (your choice).  A touch of marker to the centers and a brad finish the job. The oval is topped off with a Bashful Blue corduroy button.
Here's a peak at the inside. So cute, don't ya think?
I hope you like my card, now get out that butterfly punch and make some pansies of your own!

Tropical Party Birthdays

One of the new stamp sets from the Summer Mini is call Tropical Party and the new DSP - Island Oasis  and colors make you want to do just that.... PARTY!!!  Well as I was waiting for the "box" to arrive on my porch with all the new sets, I had to use another set to create the feeling of the new set that was soon to arrive. It's pretty close to Tropical Party and I sure hope my friends liked them. These were two of many birthday cards for my gal pals. You can't really see the sparkle, but there is a touch of stickles in the middle of each flower.
I made two of the same layout and one fun gift box to match.

OH BOY! The 'box" arrived today so when I got home.... you guessed it. Down to the 'Rafters" to create some more birthday cards using the new set... Tropical Party.  Anyway, Here is a few more of the May birthday cards I made using the summer mini set.
Since I had 10.... yes TEN birthdays just in early May, I kept using the same set and colors but mixed it up a little with each one. Here is a few others.
I really like the pumpkin pie for a nice "pop" of Tropical PARTY!

Here's two using the Tropical Party stamp with Island Oasis DSP inside and out.
Seeeeeeeeeee pretty close, right?
Ooohhh I'm getting thirsty for an umbrella drink.

This one is more simple with a sentiment saying "Take a Moment" from the Level 1 Hostess set.
Last but not least, I just HAVE to post the birthday card I got from my up-line Nance over at Canopy Crafts.  I call it Hootie!

Is this not the cutest little owl you ever did see?
Well I know it was a lot of photos, but I couldn't help myself.

Hootie just LOVES that!

CUPCAKE OPEN!!!!

Hi everyone.
The 2010 Cupcake Open was held last night at golf and we all had Big Fun! Now I bet you're wondering what the "Cupcake Open" actually is.... aren't you? Well each year my golf league holds the cupcake open the first week in May because three of us gals have birthdays right in a row..... May 5th - me, May 7th - Michele, and May 8th - Nancy. This year Nancy had a stand-in (Carol) since she is still in sunny Florida.

All in all it's just a lot of fun, food and drinks. I had this great plan to make the cute little Fancy Favor treat holder which is the perfect size for an individually wrapped Hostess Cupcake! So I get them all ready to go, then I stopped at the store on my way home... I had two boxes of cupcakes in my hands, when right next to them I see Hostess Suzie-Q's.... on SALE...$1 off........ wellll....... you know me and sales. So what do I do but put down the cupcakes, and pick up the individually wrapped Suzie-Q's.

I don't think another thought, leave the store and I'm very excited to make the treats for my gal pals.
As I'm ready to pack the one, I reach for the box of Suzie-Q's
when ..............  HELLLLLLLLLLLOOOO!!!  The Suzie-Q's won't fit in the Fancy Favor box. What was I thinking! The next thing I know I have to hurry like a crazed woman to make up these cute little Sour Cream wrappers using up odds and ends of paper.

The moral of the story: NEXT time get back in the car and drive the ONE mile to the store and get the treat that fits in the FANCY FAVOR boxes!

Here's picture of me holding one, along with the pretty cards and flowers we got from Sherriee. I told everyone it was a prize and to wait until all the girls arrived and picked one before they opened it. Bet they thought it was going to be more than just a stinkin' little cupcake (Suzie-Q), but they all LOVED it! So much fun.

The wrappers were made with a piece of 9 X 7 DSP closed with double sided tape then crimped on one end with a crimper. Enclose the 'treat' and crimp the other end.  I made little banner tags with a Sizzix die and stamped "Maybe a cupcake would help" on the banner. I stamped the cute little cupcake from another set (?) on whisper white, punched it out with the 1/2" circle and mounted on the 3/4" little circle of CS. I glued that onto the small tag punch which I stamped OPEN on the bottom. "Cupcake Open" get it?  [You may want to click on the picture to zoom in if you're still thinking about it.]
Then I punched a hole through both tags and the sourcream wrapper and tied on with yarn string. Easy peasy!
This posting should be a Summer mini Stampin' Up posting, but not at all. Just sharing a good time.
Hope you enjoyed my summer kick off story and Hootie says "Thanks for Stopping by!"

Scrapbook in a Box!

Hi everyone.
I was soooooo exicited because May 1st kicked off the new Summer Mini. There are so many cute sets and ... you guessed it. I think I managed to order Every One! Yep, you heard me right. I can't wait for another magic box to appear on my porch.
I spent most of the weekend making birthday cards because I had 11 to get done before May 20th - Can you believe it? Then I need 3 more at the end of the month. Whew.... guess I was lazy, because I made several of the same card. AND the bad part is, I can't post most of them until I get them in mail and the dates are past; don't want to ruin the surprise for a few I know peak here, so those will have to wait until at least next week end for viewing here. But the good news is..... I also made the cutest little Scrapbook in a Box. I found it while reading Kerin Sylvester's blog and followed links to Create with Connie and Mary.
I really had no personal focus for this box, so it isn't completely finished as I would have liked due to timing, so I decided to use a simple swirly roller to decorate it so I could show the basics.
This is what the box would look like finished and closed. Then you lift of the lid... and Whaa La!

Now isn't that just too stinkin' cute? Wouldn't this be a great gift to give a Gramma? It could sit right there on a coffee table, and in a snap it could be opened when asked about the grandkids. So keep this in mind because I think I see a class in the near future on this one. So fun!

Now keep in mind I would probably decorate it a little differently, but I had no special focus in mind. Just wanted to get a generic sample done to show you. Hope you enjoyed it.
