Spring is in the Air!

Hi every-ONE ... and You know who you are!

I want to share one of the cards for the April Card Class coming up. I just LOVE,  Love,  love Iris and the many shades of purple they bring. But... it wasn't always that way...  to think when I was young I thought they were so boring. 

I guess that is because they grew everywhere, along our drive and mixed with the Lily of  the Valley around our tree. They also popped up in our yard and my dad would dig them up and move them to the flower bed.... maybe.  

I always wished my mom took more interest in yard and the way it looked.  Our neighbors were the envy of everyone... and the yard was always blooming in another color each year and besides the perennials, they added annuals as well. Where as ours was ... dad threw in a few perennials he dug up on one his job locations (he was a carpenter) and he would dig a hole ... done! No thought process at all... then the seeds took over. They grew where they grew and multiplied each year.  He would even run them over with the lawn mover and you couldn't kill them if you wanted. 

 The first card is more equal purples and the second has several shade of the same.
Below you can see if you zoom in,  I popped up the third flower for dimension.

 

Now looking back... my parents were genius! Right? Not a lot of work and the flowers free and they WERE gorgeous!  Just took me a while to appreciate I guess.

My tulips are popping up as I type this!

St. Patrick's French Fry!

Here is  a quick post to show the treat boxes for my March class. I used the SU French Fry box die and decorated with St. Patrick's Day theme. They came out so cute right?

I shredded old DSP from my scrapbooking days for the 'straw' to hold the candy.

A simple 'good luck' held on by a shamrock charm....

Filled with yummy treats!

PTI's - Paper Craft Alphabet Challenge

This last post for PTI's 9th anniversary on Heather's blog is called the Paper Alphabet Challenge.  The idea is find the letters in your first or last name and make a card using the items called out on the alphabet list. I checked both for me and decided to do my first name; Diane. Here is my card.

D - add a detail with white pen or paper piercer. I chose to pierce the center of each circle in the pretty circle borders - inside and out.
I - use an impression plate or do some type of dry embossing. I embossed the card front with a large polka dot folder to carry the theme of circles.

A - add a border. I used the border die cuts inside small and outside large.

N - try a new product that you haven't used yet. ... Well I have a ton to choose from there, but I used the "Just Because" die cut on the front of the card. The matching stamp set inside.

E - incorporate the emboss resist technique. I used this on the background paper. I used a lighter purple to highlight the clear embossing, then cut at angle and attached to the underside of the border die. I used the scrap half to die cut the flower and flower center. Then die cut some chartreuse felt leaves to finish the flower and use a base for the die cut sentiment.

This was a fun challenge and took all the "thinking what to do" out of it. I am going to keep my list and use for other birthday cards, etc. It will be fun to what those names will bring to the table.

Color Pop Fortune Teller

Wow here goes the second post of the day! This is another of the many challenges at PTI.

 They are celebrating their 9th Anniversary and have so many fun challenges going on.
Only hard part is keeping track of all of them! 

This challenge is called the Color Pop Fortune Teller....and how many of you remember making these in school!....  I know, right?

Here is how my colors came out: Aqua Mist; Simply Chartreuse; Spring Rain and Royal Velvet. 

Here is my card. 

It's really hard to see, but the rhinestones are chartreuse too!

I really wasn't perfectly happy with my card, but I fear I won't get another done in time!

PTI's 9th Anniversary - Sampler Squares challenge

Today's post is for one of the many challenges going on this month over at Papertrey Ink on Nicole's  blog. This first post is in honor of their 9th Anniversary called the Sampler Square.

The challenge called for 9 squares 1 1/2" each different mounted to a 5 1/2" square card. 

Here is my version. 

As you can see, several of the squares are turned 90 degrees to give some interest. 

Some of the squares are very simple, such as this embossed one. White on white doesn't show up too well in this photo but it looks nice in person.  The square above has a button with burlap tails on a gold heat embossed square. 

One is wrapped twice in polka-dot ribbon, one has star rhinestones, and one is stamped with sweet strawberries. 

A few are simply designer paper and striped vellum, but my favorite is the 3 felt flowers with rain stone centers. One is stamped with a simple sentiment. 

I mounted the squares on a layer of white card stock and then popped it up with pop dots. 

So there you have, this is my submission. Hope you enjoy.
